Motive is a reason for doing something, especially one that is hidden or not obvious. What is the intended motive behind the massacre of innocents during to Salem Witch Trials, The Holocaust, and the Serbian Croatia Killings? Everyone has a motive for what they are doing even if they are not aware of it. There are two types of motives, those that are truly good and some that are evil. It is hard to tell the difference between the two types because in the eyes of a man it is what they believe and what they judge to be right or wrong. That is why it is hard to dictate between the two to find the true motive behind a person’s actions. The Salem Witch Trials happened in Salem, Massahutes in the year 1692, but the puritan’s origin belief of witchcraft dates back to ancient times. This time was during the early civilization of Mesopotamia. Witchcraft was defined as the act of invoking spiritual powers to accomplish a supernatural task- such as being able to predict the future or placing a curse upon a neighbor. The people who dedicated themselves as Christ followers to and participate in his teachings and be a disciple were regarded as Christians. Imposingly, those who associated themselves with dark forces of nature by calling upon satanic powers to bring harm to others were known as witches.
